Eventually, the PVV moved to Long Island after buying property from a German farmer in Franklin Square. Unfortunately, the early 1900s real estate boom shuttered many of the local beer gardens, essentially forcing the society from Brooklyn. They even raised enough to fund the creation of a hospital that you might know today as Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. To that end, the society held events and festivals at local beer gardens to raise money and impart German culture in the community. This group, which Plattduetsche Park evolved from, was created to care for the needy and sick individuals in their community and promote German culture and tradition. Since 1883, Plattduetsche Volksfest Vereen of Brooklyn (PVV), a society of German immigrants from the flatlands of northern Germany, has called New York home. With a capacity of over 700, Plattduetsche hosts many German events and celebrations, like Jägerball and Oktoberfest. From dining tables made from reclaimed bowling alleys to old floor planks repurposed as new wainscoting on the bars and walls, all these details combine to give guests the full, authentic German Biergarten experience. The design of the Beer Hall includes many traditional Bavarian furnishings. Here, you’ll also find our Brathaus, which serves all the usual offerings, such as wursts, leberkäse, burgers and mouth-watering giant soft pretzels imported directly from Munich. At the Beer Hall at the Plattduetsche Biergarten, guests will feel as if they’ve been transported to Bavaria with crisp German beer on tap, delicious food and live music all year long.
